Why this route works

A complete week without turning London into a checklist

Each neighbourhood receives proper time, while the overall route moves steadily from west to east and gives the first day enough flexibility for arrival and settling in.

Day1

Paddington & Little Venice

Begin gently around Paddington’s railway architecture, waterside spaces and Little Venice. This adaptable first day works particularly well after travelling to London.

Next day: take the Circle line from Paddington to High Street Kensington, then continue locally towards Holland Park.
Day2

Kensington & Holland Park

Continue through west London for royal history, architecture, gardens and design. The area provides a full day while keeping travel from Paddington straightforward.

Next day: the Circle line connects High Street Kensington with South Kensington, with local buses and walking as alternatives.
Day3

South Kensington

Move into London’s major museum quarter. Its collections and grand Victorian surroundings give the day a completely different purpose.

Next day: the Circle and District lines connect South Kensington with Westminster directly.
Day4

Westminster

Travel east for Parliament, royal London, national history and ceremonial landmarks.

Next day: continue through Whitehall and Trafalgar Square towards Covent Garden.
Day5

Covent Garden

Explore the markets, historic streets and theatres of Covent Garden, with the option to make a performance the evening finish.

Next day: walk east along Strand and Fleet Street towards St Paul’s, or take the District or Circle line from Temple to Mansion House.
Day6

City of London

Move into the Square Mile for Roman history, medieval streets, St Paul’s, modern architecture and the Tower of London.

Next day: finish the week downriver in Greenwich using DLR, rail or a river service.
Day7

Greenwich

Finish with maritime history, royal parkland, museums and broad London views in one satisfying riverside district.

The detailed guide plans the day locally, so you do not need to return repeatedly to central London.
